ACP Files Petition with FERC Seeking Technical Conference on Capacity Accreditation

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 22, 2023鈥�鈥撯赌�Today, the 91福利大全 Association (ACP) filed a petition with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) seeking a technical conference on capacity accreditation.鈥疌apacity accreditation refers to the process for identifying which resources will be available in which circumstances, and which 鈥� when well-designed 鈥� can support a clean, reliable, and affordable electricity system.鈥�听
鈥淎s the electric grid changes to include more wind, solar, and energy storage, it鈥檚 become increasingly important to make sure that our capacity accreditation methods keep pace.鈥疓rid operators and FERC have been addressing these issues primarily on a regional basis, but the clean energy industry believes it鈥檚 time for FERC to look at many of these issues more broadly,鈥� said ACP Vice President of Markets & Transmission Carrie Zalewski.听
鈥淭oday鈥檚 petition provides an opportunity for FERC to hold open discussions that can identify the best possible capacity accreditation methods, so that the reliability contributions of all resources 鈥� including renewables and storage 鈥� can be accurately accounted for.鈥� ACP and its member companies appreciate FERC鈥檚 attention to this critical topic and look forward to participating in a technical conference on capacity accreditation,鈥� Zalewski said.
